Spectacular Spaces: 9th Street Abbey

This week, we will be continuing our series on wedding venues by taking a look at the 9th Street Abbey.

Located in historic Soulard near Downtown St. Louis, the 9th Street Abbey was built as St. Paul’s German Evangelical Church in the 1850’s. In 1924 part of St. John Nepomuk Parish took occupation of the building. It became known as Holy Trinity Slovak Church. In 1992, Patty Long Catering, Inc. purchased the building and converted it into a special events venue known as the 9th Street Abbey.

The 9th Street Abbey is a multi-functional space. It has hosted many different types of events ranging from birthday dinners to wedding ceremonies and receptions.

The space can hold up to 210 guests. The interior is complete with tall rib-vaulted ceilings and original stained glass windows. Outside, you will find a patio and bar area. It makes for a perfect indoor/outdoor event.

The 9th Street Abbey has an caterer that guests are required to use. Patty Long Catering, Inc., owns the space and does all the catering in-house. The guests work with the staff to pick out the perfect menu for the occasion.

If you or someone you know is looking for the perfect space to hold a wedding ceremony, reception or another type of event, check out the 9th Street Abbey!
